Monte has had a long and varied career spanning the fields of biotechnology and information technology. He holds a master's degree in microbiology from Ohio State and is currently completing a second master's in information assurance through the University of Dallas Graduate School of Management.

Monte has worked for over a decade as a technical writer, media developer, and information systems professional. He is a certified by BELS as an Editor in the Life Sciences and has served as an editor for a variety of industry publications, including Current Protocols, Promega Notes, and Neural Notes. Monte is a member of the Council of Science Editors and the Society for Technical Communications.

Monte has also served for many years as a webmaster and web application developer. His passion for digital technology eventually led him to earn over a dozen certifications, including the SSCP, CEH, MCP, A+, iNet+, Network+, Linux+, Security+, and Master CIW Designer designations. Monte is an Adobe Certified Expert in Photoshop and has extensive experience in photography, layout, and graphic design.
